...
Many people in the Twitterverse are scratching their heads and asking, "What in the hell is Pedamundo??"

Well here it is.

Pedamundo is a word that was made up by John Mayer (@johncmayer) and Alefone (@alefone) this past Wednesday. It is now celebrated on Friday and Saturday on the second weekend of June every year.

Since Mayer created the word, which his followers told him meant "drunken party word" the topic has caught fire. Mayer describes it, via a series of tweets, like this:

"When the lyrics to Sweet Child O' Mine describe your life story, that is Pedamundo," "You know that buzz you have 2.5 drinks in where everything in the world feels achievable? That is Pedamundo," "Pedamundo is coming... The official kickoff to Summer partying. For the people, by the people, in the people."

If you watch the Pedamundo trending topic you will see just how prevalent Pedamundo really is. Folks as far away as Austrailia (@PhilJFry Live Update from Australia: In honour of Pedamundo, Super Freak is played continuously on major radio networks), Canada (@prossel Here in Canada we're celebrating Pedamundo in our usual way-being extremely polite, murdering seals and listening to Rush!), and Brazil (@alexarox People from Brazil, don't celebrate Valentine's Day! Celebrate Pedamundo!!) are celebrating Pedamundo.

In short it is a holiday in "celebration of life and dexterity." (@johncmayer)

But in my opinion the best way to describe Pedamundo is in the words of @A_is_A, "thanks for the gift of Pedamundo. Never before has so much been accomplished by so few in so little time with so little effort."

And with that, let the celebrations begin!!!

The Twitter Apocalypse (Twitpocalypse) is Upon Us

Right now the #1 trending topic on Twitter is the impending Twitpocalypse.

Here are the details:

The Twitpocalypse is similar to the Y2K bug. Very soon the unique identifier associated to each tweet will exceed 2,147,483,647.

For some of your favorite third-party Twitter services not designed to handle such a case, the sequence will suddenly turn into negative numbers. At this point, they are very likely to malfunction or crash.

The Twitpocalypse was set to occur sometime tomorrow, but the people over at Twitter have decided to move up the time to 5pm ET (2pm Pacific) today. Well we are now past that time and the critical value has not yet been reached - when it does we'll see how the Twitterverse responds.

Track the countdown here.

On a side note the Twitpocalypse is set to occur at the same time as @johncmayer's Pedamundo - coincidence?
