People have been scouring the web looking for pictures of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford's mistress, Maria Belen Chapur.

One website claims that they have found them. We have posted the photo here but cannot guarantee that it is really her, as we have heard that she is a stunning blond. But nonetheless we will post the photo claimed to be her.

"Mark Sanford Mistress Photo" is the number one trending topic in Google search right now. The press and paparazzi are going crazy trying to find a photo of the exotic woman America has been hearing about nonstop since news broke yesterday that South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford had been in Argentina with his mistress of one year.

So far no photos have been located. All we know now is that her name is Maria Belen Shapur, a 43-year-old with two teenage sons and an apartment.

One thing we do have are the steamy emails between the two, which, if you ask me, are incredibly romantic and if it wasn't for the affair attached to them, they could almost be in a romance novel or spoken in prose. She writes from various places around South America, including Ilhabela, Brazil.

Gov. Mark Sanford (South Carolina) disappeared into the mountains for a few days - which turned into a media circus - but now he has come out and revealed that he has had an extramarital affair.

I doubt he will leave office anytime soon, but most people who thought he would put up a Republican bid for White House are now turning a cold shoulder.

Here is a statement from the Governor's office:

"First and foremost, I apologize to my wife and my four boys. I have made decisions that have hurt and will continue to hurt them, and for that I'm sincerely sorry. Jenny has stood by me through campaign after campaign, through hard time after hard time, and neither she nor the boys deserve this. Please offer them your prayers.

"I apologize to my staff. I misled them about my whereabouts, and as a result the people of South Carolina believed something that wasn't true. I want to make absolutely clear that over the past two days at no time did anyone on my staff intentionally relay false information to other state officials or the public at large. What they've said over the past two days they believed to be true, and I'm sorry to them for putting them in this position.

"I apologize to the people of South Carolina. There are many people out there right now who are hurt, angry and disappointed with me, and rightfully so. Over the time that I have left in office, I'm going to devote my energy to building back the trust the people of this state have placed in me.

"I ask for your forgiveness, and your prayers for everyone who I've hurt," Sanford said.
