SCAM for sure!

There have been a lot of people following @mrktresrch101. I checked out the site (http://marketresearch.starnix.org/) when I got a tweet about being able to make $20/hour. Once on the site I noticed that there is no contact info, which is a common scam giveaway.

So what did I do? I went straight to google to find info about Starnix, PaidShoppers, MarketResearch, any name that this company could possibly be listed under. No information on google at all - another giveaway.

Next step. Twitter. I contacted every person who had Tweeted @mrktresrch101 to see if it had worked for them. No such luck. Most people had signed up and have not heard from the company since - this is also what happened to me. Another observant user noticed that the site had spelling errors (thanks @cdt5058) - yet another giveaway.

In my opinion this site is a huge scam trying to get people's Paypal account information. They have three scam giveaways. So to anyone thinking about trying it, I'd say three strikes and you're out - don't sign up.

On the other hand, maybe it has worked for you, if so let me know (@WavesDream) because I could always be wrong, and I really hope I am because this sounds great, maybe too great.

PS They also do not have a Better Business Bureau listing. Always check this site before you sign up for anything that looks iffy.

And a big thanks to my twitter friends for helping out - I'd list you here but I don't want you to get harassed!

update: just searched mrktresrch101 in Twitter search and there is only ONE person who has said she got paid, and she said it about 10 times in a row - a bit suspicious. Also I found this juicy detail from a fellow Twitterer: "Also, starnix.org is a base domain used for all types of scams http://www.ripoffreport.com..."

Note that this is just my opinion, but I prefer to make informed decisions and feel that it is better to be safe than sorry. But by all means, do not let me come in between you and your dreams of getting paid to shop.

Update 2: Just got a very suspicious email from "Paypal" telling me I can now send money to friends and family around the country. Went on my twitter account and another Twitterer messaged me that they had received a similar email, "they take your NAME to send you a bogus e-mail looking like an official PayPal e-mail, and will most likely try to take your CC#." There is no doubt that Starnix Research sent me this after I entered my name and paypal email - I am just glad I didn't give any of my address information.
