I was really hoping that this story would all just go away, but alas, it is apparently here to stay.

A few nights ago celebrity blogger Perez Hilton got punched in the face by Black Eyed Peas road manager Liborio Molina at a MuchMusic Video awards after party in Toronto. Apparently Molina got wind of the verbal beating Will.i.am took from Hilton (where Hilton called Will.i.am a "f----t"). After a video and photos of the incident were released Molina turned himself in and has been charged with assault.

Many people have been waiting for something like this to happen to Perez Hilton in a "karma's a bitch" sort of way. Even John Mayer had something to say about it via Twitter (where the whole incident has been played out after Perez tweeted for his fans to call the police). Mayer (@johncmayer) wrote to Hilton (@PerezHilton) "@PerezHilton by understanding the genetics of a violent incident you can learn to avoid them. And if you can't, you will learn to end them" thus putting the blame on Hilton for not having the common sense not to call someone a terribly untasteful name. The back and forth banter continued for quite some time with many other Twitter users joining in. The main point, though, is that although many people think Perez got what was coming to him, violence should really never find anyone, and the victim should never be put up for blame - it is like telling a girl that she was asking for it by wearing that short skirt... it just makes no sense.

To top it off GLAAD is now asking for an apology from Hilton for using the word "f----t" in a derogatory way. Hilton is yet to apologize.

No matter what, Hilton and all parties involved are getting more and more attention, and let's face it, in this world any publicity is good publicity. But I do hope that Hilton apologizes for the use of that word and tries to eradicate it from his vocabulary and I hope that Liborio Molina does get prosecuted, because violence shouldn't be condoned.
