Today I spent the day at the Academy of Sciences. Every Wednesday is free, so is definitely worth to call in sick next Wednesday and go check it out. Do not get scared with the gigantic line, because the entrance is smooth and fast.

The first thing to do is to visit the Tropical forest area. It is divided in several floors, where each floor represents a level in the tropical forest.

There you should be able to see thousands of Birds and Butterflies. If you look closely, you might also find some really cool frogs and other animals.

Second, you should check the sea life area, where you can find the huge aquarium with tons of different types of fishes. While there, you can read and learn a lot about marine life in general and how to help preserve the earth.

It is important to think that Tropical forests today are responsible to hold our climate together. If we do not take action today about our behavior and visions about the future, several species will pay the price, including Homo sapiens. Think about it. Get involved in preserving our forests.

The last to visit are the African animal’s area, where you can find several real size mimics of the African continent. Very interesting and gives you an idea of how big animals really are.

One of the most remarkable qualities that I saw at the Academy of Sciences is the ability for animals to camouflage. Even when confined to a small space, many times you can easily miss an awesome snake or a beautiful iguana. Look closely and take your time, and I guarantee that you will be rewarded.

Definitely worth the day spent there. Do not miss your chance when you are around San Francisco, California.
